Holy Grail: Foundation
I will never forget years ago while foundation shopping at MAC being asked by one of the artists, "What is the most important part of a house?" After looking dumbfounded, he replied, "The foundation." He went on to explain that you can not have a well built house without a strong foundation and the same applies with your makeup. Flawless makeup begins with the foundation.
Of course after that helluva analogy I allowed him to sell me foundation, powder, lipstick, liner, mascara, and the luminescent lighting that made my face look like it was touched by Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Up until a year ago I ONLY used MAC foundation. Specifically, MAC Studio Fix and MAC MatchMaster.
During a Sephora run with my girls Sheba and Kay aka "The Fashion Committee," I listened to them rave about Lancôme Teint Idole foundation. They had both recently tried samples and loved the results. Their enthusiasm and excitement persuaded Ms. If-It-Ain't-MAC-It's-Wack herself to give it a try. I have been hooked ever since!
Here are 8 reasons why Lancôme's Teint Idole foundation is my FAVORITE foundation for women of color:
It comes in 40 shades so unless your skin tone is 50 shades of gray you are bound to find your match!
Not only are there 40 shades but the shades are either cool (C) for pinkish/red undertones, warm (W) for yellow/golden/peach undertones, and neutral (N) for a combination of both.
The flawless natural finish will have you feeling like you are a walking Snapchat filter.
It builds well if you want to contour, highlight, or perform minor plastic surgery with makeup,
I experience NO transfer with this foundation. There has been numerous occasions when using MAC that I have went in for a hug and left half my face on the persons shoulder. *Cringe*
It feels like skin. You will not feel like you are wearing makeup.
It is oil-free so for those of you who have oily skin like myself, you will not look like a Krispy Kreme glazed donut after application.
It is ultra long wear. I never have to retouch my face. I could apply this foundation in the morning, run a marathon in the afternoon, shower in the evening, go to bed, and wake up still BEAT.
This foundation is on the pricier side at a whopping $47 but it is worth every penny! Although I only apply foundation occasionally on the weekends, I have been using the same bottle for a year.
Have you tried Lancôme's Teint Idole? What are your thoughts? Also comment below and share your favorite foundation. I am still an avid user of several MAC products but I am no longer a slave and open to trying new products.
