Who says work wear has to be boring? I have always been a believer of not stippling your personality and style in your work attire. Nine to five clothing does not have to be boring!

In fact, when you add a little razzle dazzle to your work wardrobe you may get hollered at from the guys in the Chick-Fil-A drive thru. LOL. Thanks for the infectious laughter (pictured above) fellas!

I generally add funk and flare to my work attire through accessorizing and shoe selection. However, occasionally I do like to wear a bold piece to work to show that you can be a little daring and professional. A great way to ease yourself into stepping out of the box when it comes to dressing for work is experimenting with color, patterns, prints, and textures.

Most wouldn’t dare to wear a metallic dress to work. However, I like to push the boundaries and demonstrate that all is possible. I chose this dress because the length is great for the workplace, it doesn’t require an iron (who likes to iron!), and it is perfect for layering.

Metallic clothing can easily translate as after 5:00 p.m. attire. Therefore, I decided to juxtapose the formalness of the dress by layering a denim button down shirt underneath. I added a lightweight tribal print blue and gray jacket on top to finish the look. Click the photos above to get a close up view of the details of the jacket. It’s one of my favorite jackets to wear in the spring. I think layering the dress diminishes the drama of it being metallic and looks very professional.

I paired this outfit with a faux suede cross body bag from Express, rhinestone earrings (H&M), jeweled statement necklace, and cut out ankle-strapped heels.

Every piece featured in this post is really old. If you guys haven’t learned by now, I like to buy classic and transitional pieces that can be remixed and worn for years. If you would like help curating a similar outfit or simply want to add more flare to your 9-to-5 attire please leave a comment below or shoot me an email at ash@ohsnapitsash.com.

Until next time lovelies, live life fashionably!
