Purple Rain

Since an itty bitty girl my favorite color has been purple. As I grew older it changed from the regular degular shmegular purple to the feminine shade of lilac. I think this color is illuminating and all skin tones look beautiful in it.

When the season began to transition from winter to spring, I decided that I wanted to create a capsule collection. A capsule collection wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion. The idea is to transition them into different seasons and to pair them with seasonal pieces.

Well constructed trouser pants are fundamental when creating a capsule wardrobe. I fell in love with this style from the Loft because of the color, the belted waist, and ankle length. Although these are pastel they can easily be transitioned through the seasons. You can find them here in this bomb power blue color. This color would pair so well with this sweater.

I paired these trousers with a chunky lilac knit sweater from H&M for a monochromatic look. I caught the sweater on sale for less than $10. The pairing of the sweater is perfect for the spring where we experience chilly mornings and evenings. Also, offices tend to turn the air conditioning on Antartica in the spring causing you to need a jacket or sweater. As the temperatures start to get warmer moving into summer, for the office, I would pair these trousers with a cardigan and blazer similar to the look below I wore to my sisters baby shower. It’s perfect for the office temperature and once you leave the office you can remove the blazer for a cooler weather appropriate look.

This was a crazy shoot day. My earring broke and I forgot the bag I wanted to wear with this outfit. However, when life throws you lemons make lemonade! I rolled with the punches and wore the earrings as is and I used my Polaroid Instax camera bag as my replacement. I finished this look with tasseled black loafers that are another essential item in my closet. I purchased them a few years ago from Lord and Taylor and they’re by Nine West. I love this patent leather style. They are worth the investment!
